About Meyya Meyyappan
Dr. Meyya Meyyappan is a renowned researcher in the field of nanotechnology, which has the potential to revolutionize various industries, including electronics, computing, communication, health, energy, environment, transportation, and national security. After spending 12 years in the industry, he joined NASA's Ames Research Center in Silicon Valley in 1996 to lead new research projects. Within a decade, he became NASA's Chief Scientist for Exploration Technology.
Dr. Meyya Meyyappan has contributed significantly to the field and holds 22 nanotechnology patents for various applications, including space exploration and everyday needs. His inventions include flexible printable electronics, chemical and bio sensors, energy storage devices, and self-healing electronics for deep space exploration that can last for more than 20 years.
Dr. Meyyappan is a strong advocate of interdisciplinary collaborations and teamwork to explore the full potential of nanotechnology. He served as the Director of the Center for Nanotechnology until June 2006 and was one of the founding members of the Interagency Working Group on Nanotechnology (IWGN), which was responsible for creating the National Nanotechnology Initiative.
